Analysis of the Clinical Efficacy of HTO Combined with Arthroscopic Medial Meniscus Posterior Root Suture Assisted by Orthoview Software in the Treatment of Osteoarthritis with Medial Meniscus Posterior Root Tear

Abstract:Objective: To retrospectively analyze the clinical efficacy of high tibial osteotomy(HTO)assisted by Orthoview software combined with arthroscopic medial meniscus posterior root suture in the treatment of varus knee osteoarthritis(OA)with medial meniscus posterior root tear. Methods: Clinical data of 40 patients with knee OA and medial meniscus posterior root tear admitted between January 2021 and October 2023 were reviewed. This included 16 males and 24 females,aged 42 to 69 years. Preoperative planning was performed using Orthoview software to determine the osteotomy site,correction angle,and distraction width. High tibial osteotomy was then performed according to the preoperative plan. Arthroscopic suture of the medial meniscus posterior root was carried out,with the suture knots tied onto the plate. All surgeries were performed by the same surgeon. After long-term follow-up,therapeutic outcomes were evaluated and analyzed by observing and comparing pre- and postoperative knee function scores [the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)Knee Rating Scale],Lysholm scores,and visual analogue scale(VAS)pain scores. Results: All 40 patients were followed up for 12 to 24 months. X-ray review showed correction of the varus deformity in all patients,and all osteotomies achieved healing. The postoperative HSS score,Lysholm score,and VAS score were significantly better than the preoperative scores. Conclusion: HTO assisted by Orthoview software combined with arthroscopic medial meniscus posterior root suture for the treatment of varus knee OA can effectively correct lower limb alignment,restore the normal biomechanical structure of the meniscus,alleviate knee pain,and improve knee function.
