Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical therapeutic effect of diprophylline combined with ceftriaxone sodium in elderly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. Methods:A total of 196 elderly patients diagnosed with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis admitted to our hospital from January 2024 to December 2024 were enrolled in this study. The subjects were randomly divided into an observation group(98 cases)and a control group(98 cases)by the random number table method. The control group received intravenous anti-infective monotherapy with ceftriaxone sodium, while the observation group was additionally administered intravenous drip of diprophylline on the basis of the control group’s regimen. Standard basic symptomatic interventions including oxygen therapy and expectorant treatment were performed in both groups, with a treatment course of 14 days. The overall clinical effective rate was compared between the two groups; pulmonary function indicators and serum inflammatory markers were detected and compared before and after treatment;the resolution time of symptoms and signs such as cough, expectoration, pulmonary rales and wheezing was recorded. Results: The observation group achieved superior overall treatment effective rate, better pulmonary function indicators and more favorable serum inflammatory marker levels compared with the control group(P<0.05). The resolution time of cough, expectoration, pulmonary rales and wheezing in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of diprophylline and ceftriaxone sodium can significantly improve clinical efficacy, ameliorate pulmonary ventilation function and rapidly relieve clinical symptoms in elderly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. This combined regimen exhibits favorable medication safety and is worthy of clinical promotion among elderly populations.
