Abstract:Objective:The clinical effects of two types of packing materials on patients with dry socket were retrospectively analyzed,to explore the efforts of different treatment methods, and provide new ideas for the clinical. Method: From 2021/6 to 2026/6,we gathered the information of patients who were diagnosed with dry socket and treated at the Department of Stomatology, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University(formerly Chaohu Hospital of Anhui Medical University). 40 patients were selected and divided into two groups based on the filling material used. In the experimental group, the socket filled with iodoform gauze strips mixed with Compound chamomile lidocaine gel after the necrotic tissues were removed. In the control group, the socket filled with iodoform gauze strips mixed with only iodoform gauze. The pain index of the tooth extraction site was compared between the two groups of patients on the 1st,3rd,and 7th days after treatment using the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). The gingival index was used to assess periodontal healing, and the degree of mouth opening restriction and granulation tissue growth were used to evaluate the degree of wound healing. Results:On the 1st,3rd,and 7th days after postoperative treatment, the VAS pain index of the tooth extraction site in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.01),the gingival index was lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05),the growth of granulation tissue was higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05),and the degree of mouth opening was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The degree of pain relief and wound healing of the patients in the experimental group after surgery were both higher than those in the control group. Conclusion:Filling dry groove wounds with iodoform gauze strips after using the mixed Compound chamomile lidocaine gel can significantly reduce the degree of pain and limited mouth opening, accelerate periodontal healing and granulation tissue growth, and accelerate healing. The postoperative recovery effect is superior to that of traditional iodoform packing.
